Bono East Region Distributes Equipment Under the National Apprenticeship Programme

Under the National Apprenticeship Programme, a forward-looking policy established by John Dramani Mahama to promote self-employment through free technical and vocational training, another important milestone has been achieved in empowering the youth of the Bono East Region.

As part of the first pilot phase in the region, essential working tools and equipment were distributed to beneficiaries and Master Craft Persons across all eleven constituencies. In this initial batch, a total of 67 Master Craft Persons (MCPs) and 335 apprentices benefited from the programme, demonstrating a strong commitment to practical skills development and job creation.

The equipment distributed included 246 sewing machines with their accessories, 41 knitting machines, 22 hair dryers with their accessories, as well as carpentry tools and equipment to support hands-on training and business start-ups. These tools are intended to ensure that apprentices transition smoothly from training into active employment or entrepreneurship.

The support provided under the programme is designed to equip young people with the resources needed to establish their own businesses, achieve financial independence, and contribute meaningfully to the local economy. Beneficiaries were encouraged to make diligent and productive use of the equipment, recognizing that this opportunity serves as a solid foundation for growth, job creation, and long-term economic development within the Bono East Region.
