The Minister had the distinct honour of receiving a courtesy call from the newly appointed Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Rev. Fr. Kingsley Dwamena Asante, and his management team during their official visit to his office.
The Minister warmly welcomed Rev. Fr. Asante and congratulated him on his appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to provide visionary and transformative leadership to advance and strengthen the education sector within the Bono East Region. He underscored the need for collaborative efforts in line with the Government’s Resetting Agenda, aimed at driving renewed growth, improving standards, and promoting excellence in education delivery across the region.
During the engagement, discussions centered on key issues affecting the education sector, including infrastructural gaps, improvement of teaching and learning outcomes, and strategic interventions to enhance academic performance. The Minister briefed the delegation on ongoing and upcoming infrastructural projects designed to create a conducive learning environment, particularly in underserved communities.
As part of the discussions, the Minister also presented a proposal for the establishment of the Bono East Education Promotion Fund (BEEP Fund). The proposed initiative seeks to mobilize resources from government, corporate institutions, development partners, and benevolent individuals to support educational development across the region. The Fund is expected to focus on scholarships for brilliant but needy students, infrastructure support, teacher development, and the provision of essential teaching and learning materials.
The meeting was cordial and productive, reaffirming a shared commitment to ensuring quality, inclusive, and accessible education for all, while strengthening collaboration between the Regional Coordinating Council and the Education Service to achieve sustainable progress in the region.
