The Bono East Region joined the rest of the country to commemorate the 69th Independence Day celebration of Ghana at Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman, bringing together citizens, traditional authorities, security services, students, and other key stakeholders to reflect on the nation’s journey and renew their commitment to national development.The colourful ceremony provided an opportunity for participants to remember the sacrifices and struggles of the country’s forebears who fought tirelessly for freedom and self-determination. It also served as a moment for citizens to celebrate the progress made over the years while strengthening the collective resolve to build a more prosperous and united nation.
Addressing the gathering, it was emphasized that this year’s theme, “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” is a call to action for all Ghanaians to work together towards sustainable development and national transformation. Citizens were encouraged to remain dedicated to their various roles in society and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the country.As part of the address, several ongoing and upcoming educational initiatives within the region were highlighted. These include plans and progress towards the establishment and development of key institutions such as the Techiman Polyclinic University of Digital Engineering, Ampoma College of Education, Techiman North College of Education, as well as the College of Health Sciences at Jema and Ampoma. These projects are expected to significantly strengthen access to quality education and training in the region.
In addition to the tertiary education initiatives, attention was also drawn to major infrastructure projects currently underway in several Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools across the region. These projects are aimed at improving learning environments, expanding educational opportunities, and supporting the broader vision of strengthening the education sector.The celebration concluded with a strong call for unity, patriotism, and collective responsibility. Citizens were encouraged to continue working together in peace and harmony to build a prosperous Ghana and restore hope in the lives of its people.
