A significant milestone has been achieved in the Bono East Region with the distribution of chicks under the Nkoko Nkitinkiti Programme, a visionary flagship initiative by H.E. John Dramani Mahama. The programme is designed to revitalize the poultry industry, create employment for 20,000 young people, reduce unemployment, and strengthen food security across the country.
The Regional Minister assisted the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. John Dumelo, during the distribution exercise. Under this phase, 10,000 chicks were distributed to each of the eleven constituencies in the Bono East Region to boost poultry production and support local farmers.
This strategic intervention is expected to enhance local capacity in poultry farming, reduce dependence on imported poultry products, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for the youth within the region. Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) were urged to ensure effective supervision and monitoring to guarantee the programme’s success and long-term impact.
An appeal was also made for support toward the establishment of a cattle ranch in the region and the provision of essential farm inputs to farmers to further strengthen agricultural productivity.
The distribution of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti chicks represents a bold step toward agricultural transformation, job creation, and economic empowerment in the Bono East Region.
Long live Nkoko Nkitinkiti!
Long live Bono East Region!
