BONO EAST STRENGTHENS AFFORESTATION DRIVE THROUGH AGROFORESTRY FOR CARBON CREDIT PROJECT

A Handing-Over Ceremony of seedlings under the Agroforestry for Carbon Credit Project was held at the SDA School Park in Nkoranza, bringing together stakeholders and beneficiaries to advance environmental sustainability efforts in the Bono East Region.

Climate change continues to impact agriculture, livelihoods, and the environment, making tree planting and sustainable farming practices essential for long-term ecological balance. The region remains committed to afforestation, climate-smart agriculture, and environmental protection as part of broader development priorities.

The seedling support for the initiative was provided by the World Food Programme (WFP), whose contribution is expected to significantly strengthen sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation efforts across the region.

The Regional Minister expressed appreciation to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Food and Agriculture for the various interventions and flagship programmes aimed at supporting farmers and improving livelihoods within the region.

Beneficiaries were encouraged to nurture the seedlings responsibly and contribute to the success of the initiative in building a greener, more resilient, and sustainable future for all communities in Bono East.
