The Government of Ghana, through the African Risk Capacity (ARC), has initiated relief support for farmers in the Bono East Region affected by the 2024 dry spell.
This followed a visit by a team from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Headquarters and the Technical Working Group of ARC, who paid a courtesy call as part of ongoing assessments and coordination efforts. The delegation was received together with the Chief Director and the Regional Director of NADMO.
The intervention aims to mitigate the impact of the prolonged dry conditions on farmers and strengthen their resilience against climate-related shocks. It forms part of government’s broader commitment to protecting livelihoods, ensuring food security, and responding promptly to the needs of vulnerable farming communities.
Officials reiterated that the relief package underscores Government’s determination to stand with farmers, particularly those most affected by climate variability, and to work closely with stakeholders to address challenges arising from the dry spell.
Further engagements and support measures are expected as assessments continue across affected communities in the region.
